Al-Qaryatain

Al-Qaryatain

Al-Qaryatain means 'the two villages' and was so named because the inhabitants would abandon their mud-brick dwellings in the scorching summer months and move across the wadi to the date plantation and live there in simple huts till the weather cooled again. When I look at this image, I can see Oman as it must once have been.
